ADVANTAGES OF THE ASSOCIATION

  • Unification of criteria
  • Information exchange
  • Exchange of experiences
  • Possible purchase together
  • In view of our incorporation to C.E.E, contact with european associations already existing.
  • Coordination of effort
  • Consolidation of the activity

The main reason of its urgent set in motion was the recent constitution of another association, also with national nature, which included the represetatives of the main shipping lines and leasing companies operating in Spain (Spanish Association of Container Operating Companies) AEOCE

This way it was pretended to share a forum of debates between both assocications and favour a fluent and unified communication.

In order to start with the Professional Association of Repairers and create its statutes, several meetings were held in different Spanish cities with the cooperation and participation of the following companies (some of them already disappeared):

  • UGARTENA (Bilbao)
  • CONTE-LEKU (Bilbao)
  • RECONSA (Cádiz)
  • INTERCON (Cádiz)
  • MAPOR (Barcelona / Cádiz)
  • MARSHIP (Barcelona)
  • TECNICA Y MANUTENCIÓN (Barcelona)
  • TALLERES BELLMUNT (Barcelona)

  • TRANSCON (Valencia)
  • ROCA MONZÓ (Valencia)
  • SERVICIOS AUXILIARES MARÍTIMOS (Valencia)
  • FERRINHA (Oporto)

Eventually the association was set up and its statutes approved the 27th of May 1986 under the official name of ‘Spanish Association of Companies of Storage and Repairs of  Containers’ and its abbreviation to make its use easier is ‘A.R.C.E Asociación Reparadores Contendores de España’.

The biggest promoter of the creation of ARCE and first President was Mr.Rafael Sarriá from UGARTENA in Bilbao, and its governing body represented the rest of the main Spanish harbours in transit of containers. The Vice-president was Mr. Alfredo Soler from Transbase Soler in Valencia, the Secretary Mr. José Luis Osorio from RECONSA in Cadiz and the treasurer Mr. Vicente Cabane from TECNICA Y MANUTENCIÓN in Barcelona.
